Stuffed Flatbread with Ground Meat & Cheese Recipe
🧂 Ingredients (for 6 flatbreads)
For the dough:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 3 tbsp olive oil (or vegetable oil)
- 1 cup warm water (adjust as needed)
For the filling:
- 300 g ground beef (or lamb)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 small carrot, diced
- ½ red bell pepper, diced
- ½ yellow bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ cup chopped parsley
- 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or a mix)
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the dough
- In a bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
- Add warm water gradually while kneading until the dough is soft and smooth.
- Add oil, knead a bit more, and cover.
- Let it rest for 45–60 minutes until it doubles in size.
2️⃣ Prepare the filling
- In a pan, heat olive oil and sauté onion and garlic until soft.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned.
- Add carrot and bell peppers; cook 5–7 minutes.
- Season with paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Remove from heat, add parsley, and let it cool slightly.
- Mix in shredded cheese.
3️⃣ Assemble the flatbreads
- Divide dough into equal balls. Roll out each ball into a small circle.
- Place 2–3 tablespoons of filling in the center, then cover with another dough circle.
- Seal the edges and gently flatten with your hands or a rolling pin.
4️⃣ Cook
- Heat a non-stick pan or skillet over medium heat.
- Cook each flatbread 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and slightly puffed.
- Brush lightly with butter if desired.
