Stuffed Flatbread with Ground Meat & Cheese Recipe

🧂 Ingredients (for 6 flatbreads)

For the dough:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 3 tbsp olive oil (or vegetable oil)
  • 1 cup warm water (adjust as needed)

For the filling:

  • 300 g ground beef (or lamb)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small carrot, diced
  • ½ red bell pepper, diced
  • ½ yellow bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup chopped parsley
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or a mix)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the dough

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
  2. Add warm water gradually while kneading until the dough is soft and smooth.
  3. Add oil, knead a bit more, and cover.
  4. Let it rest for 45–60 minutes until it doubles in size.

2️⃣ Prepare the filling

  1. In a pan, heat olive oil and sauté onion and garlic until soft.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  3. Add carrot and bell peppers; cook 5–7 minutes.
  4. Season with paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  5. Remove from heat, add parsley, and let it cool slightly.
  6. Mix in shredded cheese.

3️⃣ Assemble the flatbreads

  1. Divide dough into equal balls. Roll out each ball into a small circle.
  2. Place 2–3 tablespoons of filling in the center, then cover with another dough circle.
  3. Seal the edges and gently flatten with your hands or a rolling pin.

4️⃣ Cook

  1. Heat a non-stick pan or skillet over medium heat.
  2. Cook each flatbread 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and slightly puffed.
  3. Brush lightly with butter if desired.
